Previously when I came here for my Kum Kee Charcoal Roast Pork which is only a few doors away from here and , one of my reader recommended me to try one of her favorite place which serve Ipoh Chicken Rice at Restaurant New Lian Hin.

New Lian Hin (1)

So Since we were there for a few rounds and drop by here for lunch to give it a try, which also do attract us whenever we walk pass by.

New Lian Hin (2)

This outlet also enjoying brisk business during lunch time and alot of diners came by for take away.

New Lian Hin (3)

Ordered their home cook “tong sui” that turns out pretty generous with its ingredient. Not too sweet yet flavorful. A good one to start off with.

New Lian Hin (4)

We were served with rice first and it smells nice, where colour is a little pale pandan colour, fragrant with chicken oil and pretty good for a chicken rice.

New Lian Hin (5)

We ordered mix meat, ranging from Roast Pork, BBQ pork, chicken and roast chicken along with bean sprouts.

New Lian Hin (6)

Chicken meat turns out to be juicy yet not too dry and roast chicken is pretty good too.

New Lian Hin (7)

New Lian Hin

Roast pork and BBQ pork turns out to be good too, where they are slightly above avreage than many chicken rice stall. Indeed it was a good recommendations and worth to come back again as price for this meal for 3 pax is estimated RM 45 which we think is pretty decent.

OktoberFest at Brozeit 2016 @ Bangsar Shopping Center

$

Every year month of October, it will be another exciting month where certain eateries and bars will be celebrating OKTOBERFEST!!

Brozeit (1)

This gives no exception for Brozeit – a German Bier Bar which is also one of my favorite German restaurant that serve decent consistent German food.

Brozeit (2)

Brozeit (3)

Brozeit (4)

Among the 4 beers, I love Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest-Märzen. Love the sweet sweet malty flavour and hinted with faint bitter aftertaste. It is also one of the beer that I have not tested before among those bottles.

Brozeit (5)

Brotzeit Fladen Kassler – Smoked Pork Loin Pizza -Tomato sauce, mozzarella, thin slices of smoked pork loin topped with olives and freshly grated horseradish. Every slices is filled with decent slice of loin and olive with its thin crust pizza. Do go along with their beer to pair it up.

Brozeit (6)

Bermerwürstl – Pigs in blankets @ RM 39 Three smoked pork cheese sausages wrapped with bacon and served with fries.

Brozeit (7)

The festival is celebrated in big scale, from food to beer and Oktoberfest PlatterRM 288 nett introduce you all their signature item. A platter that can easily feed 4-6 pax, served with Brotzeit Signature Knuckle, Pork Garlic Sausages, Gypsy Belly Bacon, Lumber Jack Steaks, Nürnberger Pork Sausages & Spicy Chicken Sausages served with Sauerkraut and potato salad. Their pork kunckle is da bomb, where every cut of it gives you the cracking sound from the skin.

Brozeit (8)

Still love their classic brown sauce to pair with most of my meat.

Brozeit (9)

Brozeit (10)

For dessert, WeiBer LavakuchenRM 25 is my favourite. Chocolate Lava Cake is also a twist of Chef’s version of molten lava cake with white chocolate. Cutting through the thin layer of crust gives you the crack and where white chocolate just flood out. Great replacement of white chocolate and pairs well with chef special sauce at the side.

Brozeit (11)

Apfelküchle @ RM 26 for 4 pcs. Slices of cinnamon-sugar dusted apple fritters served with homemade vanilla sauce.

Location:
Brotzeit German Bier Bar

In Airport when I am looking to purchase my whisky, I do come across this brand GlenGrant and little did I know is actually an Award-winning whisky. Only recently I was invited for this media launch tasting and fell in love with their range. In this launch, the highlight would be the new 12 Year Old and 18 Year Old premium expressions.

GlenGrant (2)

The media launch too place at The Social.

GlenGrant (3)

GlenGrant (4)

GlenGrant (5)

The latest premium offerings are set to be Glen Grant’s finest yet and will join the existing range, which now in full includes The Major’s Reserve, 10 Year Old, 12 Year Old, 18 Year Old and a selection of limited edition bottles; each based on more than 175 years of passion and craftsmanship. The new 12 Year Old and 18 Year Old expressions each add their own exceptional and unique flavour and aroma to the current Glen Grant range, opening the door to a whole new whisky-drinking experience.

GlenGrant (6)

The 18 Year Old – The rarest in the collection is the new Glen Grant 18 Year Old. This unrivalled single malt Scotch whisky matures for at least 18 years in the highest quality, handpicked oak casts, which creates a radiant golden colour and seductive floral and oaky aroma. Deeply layered and complex, this rich and vibrant whisky delivers beautifully intricate flavours of malted caramel, vanilla, and raisins and lingers with a long, sweet and pleasantly spicy finish.

GlenGrant (7)

The 12 Year Old – Glen Grant 12 Year Old is a remarkable single malt Scotch whisky. With a bright, golden colour and pleasant aromas of orchard fruit, almond and citrus, this exceptional whisky delights the palate with exquisite and delicate notes of apple pie crust and caramel, finishing with lingering fruit and subtle hints of spice.  The 12 Year Old was recently awarded the IWSC GOLD 2016, Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Speyside, 12-13 Years Old.

GlenGrant (8)

The 10 Year Old – Golden in colour, the 10 Year Old lingers in the mouth with a soft almond finish. For the last four years, the 10 Year Old has won the “Best Single Malt Scotch: 10 Years and Under” category award in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. In addition to this, in 2015 the 10 Year Old also took home the guide’s top honour for single malts by winning overall Single Malt of the Year (Multiple Casks).

GlenGrant (9)

GlenGrant (10)

GlenGrant (11)

GlenGrant (12)

GlenGrant (13)

Pleasure to meet Dennis Malcolm whom is the Master Distiller over 50 years.

GlenGrant (14)

All the 4 bottles do have their own distinctive taste which is quite prominence in taste difference. . My personal pick for GlenGrant would be 10 years as there is a reason for it to won medals. Indeed one of the easiest drinking whisky that can be drank anytime any where. If you love something slightly more oaky and slightly more spicy then 12 years old would be an ideal purchase. 12 years old is indeed a good bottle for any food and conversation starter.

I have pass this outlet, Hwang Hae at Solaris KL numerous times whenever I pay a visit to other restaurants around that area. Have always created the curiosity to try out this outlet over the years till recently only decided to drop by. It is a Korean BBQ place that is well known for their lamb bbq skewers

Hwang He

hwang he (3)

My Korean food now need to have Soju bomb along. 🙂

hwang he (4)

hwang he (6)

In the menu is pretty simple where you can choose from skewers side or typical Korean bbq with fine slices of meat. We ordered :

  1. normal Lamb Skewers @ RM 29
  2. Spicy marinated lamb skewers – Michin Yang Kkochi @ RM 29
  3. Grilled Spicy Pork Neck – Maeunyangnyeom Dwaeji @ RM 29

hwang he (5)

The secret ingredient for this outlet is this special mix spices dip for all your meat. It gives you a nice lingering of mild Korean Szechuan spices, mild spicy, with hint of black pepper and a unique after taste that we just love it. Taste event better if you had half shot of soju after it.

hwang he (9)

Good stuff from this outlet as I have return another round a month after and still do not  mind to go back.

A.Toast Breakfast & Juice Bar is one of a hidden store along Jalan Pudu. It is a little store that is pretty much well known for their fresh sandwich that made a mark to many of the workings peeps nearby. It is a simple menu that cater for fast movers.

A Toast (2)

A Toast (3)

A Toast (4)

Seating capacity here is very limited as they are operating in a tight space.

A Toast (5)

Latte @ RM 4.20, you can avoid this as it is a instant coffee (the cashier do mention about it)

A Toast (6)

Base on the picture, it do capture my attention and as Flossy Style French Toast was served, they have added in quite a generous amount of chicken floss, however their fresh sandwich is still a clear winner. @ RM 10.90. It is a classic chinese french toast that dip with egg and pan fried, filled with chicken ham and cheese.

A Toast (7)

A Toast (8)

This is one of a clear winner where their Signature Black Sesame Sandwich @ RM 9.30 – sunny Side up + Chicken Ham. Love the aroma and how soft the sandwich texture is. Fluffy from inside out, yet runny egg and lettuce leaves do give you the mouth bite feeling that gives you a perfect bite. Hand plastic gloves were given to ensure you kept clean from the messy effect.

A Toast (9)

A Toast (10)

Spaghetti Carbonara with Creamy Mushroom & Ham is a simple instant dish. With their price tag of @ RM 10.90, I certainly do not have complain

A Toast (11)

I have to agree to many comments that their sandwich is a bomb. Worth to give it a try and others are base on your personal taste bud. If you do visit this place on weekend, you can actually park behind along the KTM walkway and walk through the little alley.

Korean Fried Chicken trend is sprouting like crazy now. You can see there are quite number of outlet out there are gaining its popularity with commercial chain KyoChon, Pelicana Chicken and a few others. Nanda Chicken at Solaris KL is one of the latest addition into the industry and operating in this new Korean Village – Solaris KL.

Nanda Chicken (1)

Nanda Chicken (3)

I always love the interior of a Korean F&B as they really put in a lot of effort and cost by making the restaurant looks good.

Nanda Chicken (4)

Nanda Chicken (5)

Nanda Chicken (6)

Menu here is very straight forward as their specialty is Korean Fried Chicken.

Nanda Chicken (7)

My Korean dining must always have their Soju Bomb. or at least Soju to hit with.

Nanda Chicken (8)

Complimentary sides for you .

Nanda Chicken (9)

With the latest trend, everything that evolves with cheese is in the menu. We ordered one of their latest item – Boneless Crispy Hot Snow Cheese Chicken @ RM 62. Serve with boneless chicken and half plate or cheese corn.

Nanda Chicken (10)

Let it cook for 3 minutes and after the cheese melted, the assistant will come over and show you how it should be quoted. Assistance is provided on the first few piece of chicken.

Nanda Chicken (11)

  1. take one piece and twirl it with cheese.
  2. Pull it up into the air where you can see the springy of the cheese, twirl it in mid air to allow it to be coated around.
  3. Once it is all coated like a cocoon, then it is ready to be eaten.

Nanda Chicken (12)

Chicken is fried to perfection where it is crispy inside out, meat might be slightly dry but overall it is not bad. Thick cheese give you the extra salty omph into the chicken. The best part is their spicy sauce and this is only 1 chili spicy level.. It does not hit you on the first piece, but it hits you after consuming subsequent piece. My tears keep flowing out. Their spiciness is different level. (do take note on the effect of next day when you hit washroom). Cannot imagine other chicken flavor that has 2 or 3 chili text on it. They also do have the non spicy version.

Overall it is not a bad place for Korean Friend Chicken and do come with a group of 4. Their cheese portion might not be big as other flavors is like mountain high. For classic Korean Fried Chicken I still like Chicken House which is just a street away. As for variety and ambiance, this place wins.

They do have delivery service too.

Takoyaki is actually one of my favourite Japanese Street snacks. I still remember my first bite when I were traveling in Hong Kong 12 years ago. That taste and memory is still one of the best and that shop no longer in operation. Gindako is one of a famous Japanese Takoyaki brand that now operates in our Malaysian Shores that operates by a new sister company from famous brand operator ChaTime.

Gindako (2)

Their first outlet were at Aeon Shah Alam and it were quite far to travel all the way there for this. Their expansion growth is slow yet manage to try it out at one of their latest outlet Gindako Publika.

Gindako (3)

Gindako (4)

Love their machine as it do look cool. With automated shake and auto ball roller is quite new to me.

Gindako (5)

Gindako (6)

Flavours are very direct with the classic are always the Original with squid.

Gindako (7)

This round I tried their cheese version. Turns out to be alright. Slightly crispy skin soft filling inside and it is quite similiar to the one I had in Bangkok 3 months ago. It is a tricky snacks that serve in variety of texture. Every one have their own preference.

Doma Modern Korean Cafe @ Mont Kiara

Many of the cafe’s in Klang Valley are inspired by Australia. Well, Doma Modern Korea Cafe is one of them too. Serving modern Korean Cuisine as Doma’s chef Terry Song comes to Malaysia from Australia, and their co-founder Carl Lee is from South Korean. This place is not your typical Korean restaurant.

Doma (1)

This cafe is quite hidden from the eyes of main road even though you pass here nearly every day. Sits at level one of Mont Kiara Shoplex which is a little building that has Baskin Robbin.

Doma (2)

Doma (3)

The interior do feel like a mini art dining space, simplicity and minimalist.

Doma (4)

Doma (5)

You will love their Soju range that they are offering. There are alot of brands that I have rarely seen. A great place to try some of it and the price is very reasonable.

Doma (6)

Doma (7)

Doma (8)

For that day, we decided to try Sansachun Rice Wine @ RM 42.  Simply fragrant, easy to drink and mild flowery note.

Doma (9)

Kim Chi Fried Rice @ RM 20 is filled with Bacon, Parameson and spring onion. Fried to perfection as I love the pan fried wok hei and with parameson do enhance the taste a little unique.

Doma (10)

Love the KimChi Soup here as the taste is stronger. Slightly sourish spicy to my liking. @ RM 20

Doma (13)

Pork Belly Sliders @ RM 19 – soy mayo, Scallion, red cabbage. This is like our Chinese version dish as the have a little twist in it by adding different veggie and dressing. Love the Pork Belly that is done to perfection where the skin is crispy and belly is evenly sitting between the lean meat. Thumbs up where the sauces enhance it!

Doma (11)

They were one of the early trend setters as I have tried this 4 months ago in this outlet. ‘Bul Dak’ Hot Spicy Cheese Chicken @ RM 29. Serveing in a sizzling hot plate  that is filled with a sea of cheese, onions and special sauces from chef along with chicken is something you will not stop digging in with your rice wine at the side. Gives you a perfect combination of flavours. Bul Dak is rich in taste and chicken is soft and juicy.

Doma (14)

Doma (15)

As for dessert, we hit on their signature Green Tea Bingsu. Different type of texture as it is filled with those snowy soft melt into your mouth texture and love their strong green tea taste that yet can balance it off with their ice milk base. Great stuff.

Definitely one of a place that I would recommend as I had visited three times over the past few months. Do not miss their Fried Chicken.

When everyone think about French Food, it is constantly associate with very technical cooking style. There is one which that sits at Lorong Maarof that gives you a touch of French home cook version with elevation of flavour. Rendez-Vous which is lead by Chef Benjamin Reilhes whom hails from the quiet town of Toulouse.

Rendez-Vous (1)

Rendez-Vous (2)

This is not your typical fine dining area as this is more like a casual dining space.

Rendez-Vous (3)

Rendez-Vous (4)

Rendez-Vous (5)

Kampari Spirits is one of their starter cocktail that is filled along with Soda and a slice of orange. Slightly sweet in after taste is definitely one of a drink that is easier to drink for ladies. IF you like something Classic, then their Dry Martini is something to hunt after. Quite strong with martini and olives to infuse with the taste.

Rendez-Vous (7)

Rendez-Vous (6)

In love with their first starter which is a small bowl of Cauliflower Soup. So fragrant with truffle oil that is not overpowering, yet airy and just finish it till its last drop.

Rendez-Vous (8)

Next is their new French Classic Starters – Meli Melo de Rilette – serve you in two bottle with one is Tuna Fish Riyard and Seabass Riyard. More like Pate base. Finished the whole 6 pieces by myself . Pate is smooth and aromatic.

Rendez-Vous (9)

Rendez-Vous (10)

Moments later, we got served our first Course – Oeuf Parfeit et Gnocchi, unique taste of flavour where the foamy do give you a lift of taste and as you dig in, you will fine some soft gnocchi stuff with cheese with a bit of taste creamy sourish.
Pairing with a glass of Côtes du Rhône Shiraz which balances the richness of the dish with its medium body.

Rendez-Vous (11)

Rendez-Vous (13)

Filet De Loup Le Mer or Pan Seared Seabass with Carrot Puree
Nicely presented in a bed of Carrot Puree and contrast of green colour and little island of passion fruit. Love the taste of it as seabass is cook nicely to my liking where the meat is soft and skin is sligltly crips yet the colour if it is still preserve. A bit of fish that mix with puree, the green veggie dressing, a little dash of passion fruit gives you burst of a well balance flavour from sourish passion fruit, aromatic of puree, and slightly bitterness from the vegetable line dressing.
Pairing with Golden Kaan Chardonnay which enhance the flavour to give you the slight fruity and dry end.

Rendez-Vous (14)

Rendez-Vous (15)

Tranche D’agneau Au Jus or Lamb Rack and Anchovies topped Pizzarelli.

This is not technical dish but surely and adventurous flavour combination. Lamb is well season and grill nicely where the meat is still juicy, goie taste as i like and the cheese cracker is a perfect match. Pairing with Baron Monbardice is indeed a great one where I need a dry one to hit on it.

Rendez-Vous (16)

Rendez-Vous (17)

Tarte Au Citron Meringue served with Lime Sorbet

We had the Tarte Au Citron Meringue (Lemon tart with Soft Meringue) served with Lime Sorbet. Sorbet is the one that won over my taste bud. It is indeed a great after dish cleanser, wish could have another scoop of it.

Rendez-Vous (18)

Rendez-Vous (19)

Pairing with Le Contesse – Prosecco might be slightly too sweet for me.

What a great adventure with a new twist of flavour for French Cuisine. Indeed it was a unique one.

Was lost on options on what to hit on for a nice brunch. Hit into my safe list that I have done over weeks and saw this interesting place that my friend have shared in insta and decided to check them out. Only found out that Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is quite an establish brand in Singapore has now landed in KL at TTDI’s Plaza Vads.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (1)

I am truly impress with their little entrance that funnel you into an impressive interior that lead you into a huge space. Imagine it is like a wine decanters.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (2)

As you open the door, you will be greeted with wired mash wall with merchandise on the right and on the left you can enjoy a nice seating for coffee.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (3)

Common Man Coffee Roasters (4)

Walk into the dining space is where I felt like dining in a modern classic world war 2 yatch.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (5)

Specialty coffee is their forte too. Alot diners are conquering at the bar area to enjoy the nice view of this huge oval base coffee place.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (6)

Common Man Coffee Roasters (6.1)

Common Man Coffee Roasters (7)

Coffee here are pretty amazing as my latte do give a very nice slight acidic taste yet gives you a nice burst of aroma after taste. Ice Cappuccino is rather interesting too as the first sip with give you a punch of unique taste that later will flow down your throat with the after taste. Lovely blend.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (8)

Organic Egg Benedict @ RM 38 – Tender braised Ox Cheeks, Two poached organic eggs & chive hollandaise with honey rye or multigrain bread (we chose multigrain). Love this little mischievous presentation as the rockets covers the ingredient in it and as you break it, you are greeted with the braised ox cheese which is soft, juicy and a great combination with the little spices on the top and the oozy yolk that gives you a nice balance of flavour.

I believe this is one of their signature as I saw tons of orders for this. Indeed its quite a recommended one.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (9)

Common Man Coffee Roasters (10)

As I am a sucker for brioche bread as it is hard to find a nice one. Fluffy Brioche French Toast @ RM 27 – berries compote, maple syrup & premium vanilla ice cream. I have to say this is one of the best brioche that I have had so far in KL. Every single bite is crisp at the side and it is soft and fluffy in the middle bread base. Maple syrup is not too sweet yet match well with the berries compote that brings you the little acidity of the flavour. Simple and it is a masterpiece. Worth to order this to share.

Common Man Coffee Roasters (11)

As I bump into my best friend at the same morning, he highly recommended Turkish Common Man Breakfast, as he loves the combination of flavour and at least it is something different.

I certainly believe this would be one of the most talk about cafe in the upcoming weeks as they have just open its door recently and it is already running full house yesterday. I have no doubt that they currently top in my list as a perfect brunch place. Indeed a highly recommended place in KL now. Perfect service too.  Will certainly be back to try out other dishes.

*Set back, as this mark they are one of the most EXPENSIVE brunch place too. However the quality is there.

Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Wine Pairing @ E.G.G – The Pinnacle Sunway

It was a great evening by enjoying another great wine. Wine drinker will certainly familiar this renowned Australian brand, Jacob’s Creek. To add that more interesting, they have recently launched its most recent blend of red wine- the Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel for both the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon that finished in aged whiskey barrels which is to add another layer of complexity and texture to traditionally barreled beverages.

Jacobs Creek (1)

Jacobs Creek (2)

Jacobs Creek (3)

Jacobs Creek (4)

Jacobs Creek (5)

As guess arrived, we were all treated with the fresh, vibrant sparkling wine the Chardonnay Pinot Noir. Little did I know that they do have champagne range. This bottle certainly a great starter where it is so easy to drink, bubbly that gives you the fresness and crips of taste yet texture is nice. Gives you a little sourish lemon taste. A recommended bottle though for easy casual drinking.

Jacobs Creek (6)

All of us are also very curious on what does Double Barrel mean?

To make their blend different, Jacob’s Creek came up with the idea of the unique double barreling process, whereby their premium red wine, the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon reds will age through their usual process for 12-18 months in wine barrels, then subsequently aged in used Scotch or Irish Whisky oak barrels for another 3-months before bottling.  This process enhance the taste to intense and full body.

Jacobs Creek (7)

Jacobs Creek (8)

Jacobs Creek (9)

For the night, we kick start with Pan-seared French Foie Gras paired with Jacob’s Creek Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

Jacobs Creek (10)

As for this, the tasting notes for Double Barrel Shirazit has full body and a generous palate which integrates a mix of sweet red fruits and dark chocolate. While subtle toasty vanilla flavours are derived from the aging process in traditional French and American oak wine barrels. Finally, the careful use of aged Scotch whisky barrels for finishing has added complex nuances of almond-husks and also softened the dense tannins to yield an incredible smoothness.

Jacobs Creek (11)

White Truffle Pumpkin Potage

This soup is smooth and creamy, with a light finihshing truffle after-taste of truffle. Paired with  Jacob’s Creek Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

Jacobs Creek (12)

These are the sample woods that was part of the double barrel aging process.

Jacobs Creek (13)

Smoked Turkey Drumstick is to be paired with Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Shiraz and Jacob’s Creek Reserve Shiraz. Normally I am not a shiraz drinker, however with this double barrel it is certaily deifferent.

Jacobs Creek (14)

Moving to second row – we are served with Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon the tasting notes for it is offers a complex palate yet reveals itself with style. Traditionally assertive tannins are evident at first, before giving way to a mid palate filled with ripe cassis, olive tapenade and complex briary hints. Fine, dusty tannins give excellent line and length to the beverage, and are layered with sweet and toasty characters reminiscent of crýme brýlýe. The unique Double Barrel technique of finishing in aged Irish whiskey barrels has integrated the myriad of flavours and brought extra richness to the palate.

Jacobs Creek (15)

For the mains, we get to choose Pan-seared Wagyu – Marbling Grade 9 or the seafood. Paired with Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon and Jacob’s Creek Cabernet Sauvignon
The waygu was cook to perfection and it was a clear winner among the rest. Soft tender, juicy yet to me it pairs very well with the Double barrel as the strong smooth taste do enhance the taste of the meat. If to compare with Reserve, the taste is slightly lighter.

Jacobs Creek (16)

Poached Lobster with Truffle Garlic Oil pairing with Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon and Jacob’s Creek Cabernet Sauvignon

For this pairing, I think there are hit and misses as the wagyu had enhance on my taste bud.

Jacobs Creek (17)

Premium Chocolate and French Macaron paired with Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel
Lastly, the chocoate pairing is what we need. Something nice that pairs well with the Double barrel to as a finishing.
My personal preference and a recommended bottle to buy (if you have strong palate) is the Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon. Love the complexity, extra rich, that gives you a smooth dry finish. Interesting aftertaste too.

Heritage area in KL is really rare. There is these pre-war houses at Petaling Street is slowing changing its vibe, attracting few F&B and bar operating in the area. One of the latest add on is Chocha Foodstore. For this cafe, is offering Asian delights with a twist. What I read on where they will be bigger menu will be launched soon, along with opening of cocktail bar & wine lounge on second floor in near future.

Chocha (2)

Love the ambiance of this place. Unfinish walls, classic colour pastel titles, mining light bulps and classic food furniture add on the feel of it.

Chocha (3)

Chocha (4)

Chocha (5)

Chocha (7)

Chocha (8)

Chocha (9)

Chocha (10)

To add onto the feel of it, they have also created classic tea. We tried Taiwanese Dong Ding Oolong & Yunnan Black Tea with osmanthus flowers & star anise @ RM16 per bottle.

Chocha (11)

In the menu, Chinese Pesto Flat Noodle attracted my attention cause it is housemade noodle, flat and packed with ulam pesto with charred capsicum, semi-dried tomato, crunchy peanut and aromatic sesame seed. Taste is pretty strong with unique twist indeed. Find that the flavour is too strong to my liking and I could not finish the plate itself.

Chocha (12)

This is another unique twist. Serve with mix of barley and rice to add in the mouthful bite, and top with pan-seared duck confit breast, poached egg, and house pickle. Combination of flavour is interesting and just a note where as you keep eating, saltiness of it is overpowering.

Chocha (13)

Chocha (14)

As for the food, it might be too “modern” for me but they sure do have great ambiance. Maybe I will look forward for their upcoming bar.

French cuisine always give us the perception that they are classy dining. There is this French Bistro that sits in between where they are same team behind the successful French fine dining Maison Francaise restaurant. This is one of their latest concept that sits at The Row, Jalan Doraisamy is this 2ox, Two-Ox French Bistro.

Two Ox (2)

10  years ago, this place is one of the hottest night spot area known as “Asian Heritage Row”. With new revamp, now this stretch is called The Row where now house independent shops, cafes, bars and co-working space are situated.

Two Ox (3)

Love the interior of this restaurant that gives you a spacious dining area, yet it is modern with classic touch.

Two Ox (4)

Two Ox (5)

If you wanna get chillex, then you can enjoy at their bar area

Two Ox (6)

Two Ox (8)

This is one of their latest menu where we kick start with :

Two Ox (9)

Roasted Beetroot salad with Fourme d’Ambert cheese, green apple, candied walnuts. Indeed the culinary skills is amazing, where beetroot is cut paper thin slices that makes the whole presentation looks like a Spanish ham dish. Love the flavour as it have combination of different elements, and crunchy texture (from apple and walnut)

Two Ox (10)

This combination is quite interesting as Warm Beef Salad with lentils and fennel, horseradish cream. The lentils brings the softness of the marination flavour that pairs uniquely with fennel along the horseradish cream mild it down.

Two Ox (11)

As this dish do looks like healthy dish as Butternut squash barley pearl risotto with squid and spicy chicken sausage. Barley cook to perfection as it has the chewy texture yet still did not overcook it. Squid add the nice chewy texture along with barley and the thin slice of cheese enhance the flavour with little hint of saltiness it needed.

Two Ox (12)

Chicken ballotine is sous vide and add with Parisan gnocchis, mushrooms and light gravy at the side.

Two Ox (13)

Two Ox (14)

Meringue lemon tart is a simple dessert to end with but it is satisfying. Crust is crisp to my liking, with the lemon cream base nice enough to hit onto my palate to give a mild numb.

Mallikas (19)

Mallikas (20)

Mallikas (21)

1.Vegetable Pulav @ RM 12

2. Tomato Rice @ RM 16.50

Mallikas (17)

To finish off, I quite like their Badam Milk @ RM 5 and Gulab Janum (this might be too sweet but that is their classic dessert) as this two are quite a classic Indian drink and dessert.

Dining in Mallikas turns out to be out of my expectation and it is worth recommending. Definitely will be back for their other dishes. Recommended!
