Put Put put your hands up if any of you out there especially KL folks do not know Inside Scoop? One of a famous ice cream shop that made fresh gelato. The Ice Cream Bar located at Desa Sri Hartamas is one of their latest venture that specialize in alcohol flavour and of course I believe Singleton is one of their main partners for this.

The ICe Cream Bar (1)

The ICe Cream Bar (2)

Their interior is nicer, with specious seating area.

Usually the alcohol flavored is the one at the bottom row and their usual classic famous is at the top side.

The ICe Cream Bar (9)

Constantly I am there for their alcohol flavored as the price is very decent as compare to many of softserve or ice cream parlor out there. Still this is my bench mark and their alcohol series especially with Singleton its a great choice to order. One of their regular there and do bare in mind that their customer service can be down the drain.

Heard so much about this place as Isetan The Japan Store that recently opens its door to public is world second concept store by Isetan Group. As usual, I will head to check out their food section first.

Isetan (1)

Isetan (2)

They have many interesting snacks and to live the expectation as a Japanese items, the price do comes in premiums too.

Isetan (3)

Isetan (4)

Isetan (5)

Isetan (6)

World Champion Financiers from Henri Chapentier

Isetan (7)

Isetan (8)

there are a few island of eatery. Ranging from snacks, salads, sushi bar, udon/soba bar and the saddest part is WHYYYYY they do not have RAMEN Bar!

Isetan (9)

Isetan (10)

Isetan (11)

This YAkitori stalls I am sure gonna come back to try them out. The smell of it when they did the prep work is good! I came back on the evening, this stall is flock with hungry diners.

Isetan (12)

For some healthy take away, you can consider this.

Isetan (13)

This place is rather interesting.

Isetan (14)

Really premium item.

Isetan (15)

One of the most well know place for sushi bento box or it is also a well known OMAKASIH style bento box. Gonna try this next.

Isetan (16)

Snacks corner and also the auntie of this stall ask me to take picture of the glass above as it is hand painted by an artist.

Isetan (17)

Isetan (18)

Isetan (19)

If you have not been to Japan, this Sushi/Sashimi bar do have the quality and style of the Famous Tsukiji Fish Market. The colour of those sashimi and price is indeed . . . . But those sashimi is indeed a satisfying piece.

Isetan (20)

they have a steak bar too. ASk you pick the red meat in this freezer and you pay additioanl RM 20-RM 40 to allow them to cook for you on the spot and you can also pair with sake. The red meat quality here is superb. You can get great red meat with marble score of 9.

Isetan (21)

Finally do not know what to eat and we Chose this stall for first stop. Sushi Dining Shoya offers pretty good don from the picture illustration and we have decided to order with their basic Special Bara Chirashi Don – filled with fresh sashimi cubes, serve with miso soup. Love this pot so much as for RM 25 it is indeed very affordable and with the amount of ingredeint they give it is speechless.

Isetan (22)

Isetan (23)

Every bite is filled with satisfaction.

Isetan (24)

Then I went to the sushi counter to make a take away to sit at this Bar. RM 20 for 4 pieces roll is indeed a great satifying quality. Generous in ingredient as you can see the ring of sushi rice is so little and filled with salmon, tuna, egg, squid and others.

Isetan (25)

Trying out Takoyaki which is also the most expensive Takoyaki that I have tried so far. RM 18 for 6 balls is indeed a premium price. Texture is pretty unique to me as it is slightly chewy in texture and fragrant is different. They have different cooking method for this too. According to the cashier auntie, our version is cook wrongly by the trainer.

Isetan (26)

Isetan (27)

If you explore further behind, you will be greeted with the Japanese Alcohol Zone. Ranging from their boutique beer, sakae, and premium whisky.

Isetan (28)

Isetan (29)

They have draft toooooo!

Isetan (30)

Isetan (31)

As walk around and their top floor capture the most attention as this floor indeed to reflects Tokyo alot. Love the ambiance in here where the whole built up is like a mini street of Japan.

Isetan (32)

The Eight Avenue New Menu 2016 @ Publika

Ever since the discovery of The Eight Avenue at Publika by random, this place had became one of my regular place. No doubt that they serve pretty good food for an affordable price. With 15 months of operation, they had recently launch a new menu.

8th avenue (1)

8th avenue (2)

Eight Avenue Menu (3)

Eight Avenue Menu (2)

Eight Avenue Menu (1)

Eight Avenue (6)

Still one of their main signature as Angles and Demons is still staying strong in the menu. @ RM 21.90, smoked salmon wrapped in juicy melon and bacon wrapped prunes. This is my first time having prunes top with bacon, taste is pretty unique to me and follow with a bite of smoke salmon to give it a juicy sweet fruity end. White wine/ Hendriks classic would be ideal for this pairing.

Eight Avenue (7)

Lychee Pork Poppers @ RM 28.90 – Deep fried lychee stuff with mince pork. A confusion in your mind on the first bite as you get a sweet lychee taste then got hit with different flavours after that. Very interesting combination and should give it a try. Eat it while it is hot.

Eight Avenue (8)

Braised Pork Cheeks @ RM 35.90 – prepared with red wine and served with truffle mash is one of a killer dish that gives you the little satisfaction. Eat it one bite with soft pork cheeks and the nice truffle taste of mash with berry at the side and a bit dip of their brown pepper sauce do give you a explosion of flavour in your mouth.

Eight Avenue (9)

with a little infuse of local taste, Oink Oink Samble is quite interesting too as you will get the little thick creamy coated flavour on the spaghetti yet a hint of sambal spicy after taste is quite noteble. Nice combination of flavour. @ RM 29.90 –  You will find some Pork Slices in it too.

Eight Avenue (10)

For a direct hit into your mouth especially when you have beer, then Mission Chilli A-con-Plished (Pork) with an option for Chicken too. @ RM 26.90 – Mexican inspired pizza, pork chilli, pickeld onion and topped with crushed nachos. Its one of the simplest and tasty food. Love the thin crust too.

Eight Avenue (11)

Something simple yet flavourful is this Taco About It RM 22.90. Simple food and pair with their Hendrinks or beer, is just the right way to go for this dish.

Eight Avenue (12)

Beer Marinated Pork Ribs @ RM 53.90 – marinated in 8 hours beer and other secret ingredients. Love the marination flavour and however the meat might be slightly tough but it is still acceptable. Squeezing the lime on top enhance the marinated seasoning on the top.

Eight Avenue (13)

Pan Grilled Beef Tenderloin @ RM 55.90 – 8oz of juicy beef, filled with chunky truffle mash potato, grilled egg plant, sauteed green bean, onion rings, fusion black pepper sauce. Ordered my in Medium rare and turns out to be good as love my meat with a little ooze of blood when cut on it. Dip into their mash and special sauce is indeed a great one. Red wine or their new Hendricks classic is a good pairing.

Eight Avenue (14)

Eight Avenue (15)

If you love some home cooking stew, then this 8th Hour Stew – Cooked with love and mixed with enoki mushrooms, quial eegs and side of rice @ RM 28.90 will satisfy our home cook taste bud. Gravy is slightly creamier as per compare to last round I had.

Eight Avenue (16)

The name Karate Piggy Chop is indeed give you a karate in your palate. @ RM 44.90 – Grilled pork chop on the bone that marinated with fresh herbs, rub with old fashion potato. Like how the marination on top and it is not easy to cook this pork meat yet they have done it perfectly. A little pink on the meat that did not overcook it yet the seasoning on the top is not overpowering. Pairs well. – Recommended

Eight Avenue (17)

Tiramissyou @ RM 24.90

Eight Avenue (18)

Creme Brulee @ RM 18.90. A classic dessert where the burnt sugar on the top crack easily and the egg white taste is a little prominent but blends well with it.

Eight Avenue (1)

With the owner of the restaurant is not a alcohol drinker and he had been introduce by one of his friend to try Hendriks Gin. Since the first try he had fell in love with this drink and he and his mixologist had created a mini series of Hendricks Code (Eight Avenue Specialty) is their new specialty. We started off by trying Cucumber Spritz @ RM 45.90. A classic drink on how Hendrinks should be first tested.

Eight Avenue (2)

Next is indeed the Boss’s Favourite o r his own signature. Pump with lemon, mint, pomegranate seeds and top with slices of cucumber ribbon. With the little enhancement, it do chage the drink to a little fruity and a hint of sourness from pomegranate. Great drink! @ RM

Eight Avenue (3)

About Thyme is a drink where it is to challenge on your palate. You get to taste a roller coaster journey from 5 spice, thyme and soda water. @ RM 45.90

Eight Avenue (4)

This is definitely going to be girls favourite. Berry Kiss (coming soon). Filled with some blueberries, lemon and soda. So easy to drink.

Their Hendricks cocktail are slightly stronger in alcohol which I like.

Eight Avenue (5)

From their cocktail menu, this was introduce to us as Blue Ivy from Flirtatious 20 handcrafted premium cocktails where this is also a girls drink. Slightly creamy, milky and you do not feel the alcoholic level, but the after taste is quite prominent. @ RM 30.90

Apparently, I got to learn that Doutor Coffee is actually one of the largest Japanese Coffee chain and they have just open their first outlet at Sunway Velocity Mall over last weekend. It is one of a mall that is currently making a big buzz. Stumble upon this brand as I have never seen this and also need a place to settle work.

Doutor (1)

Doutor (2)

Doutor (3)

Doutor (4)

At the High stool area, each seat is equip with a plug point.

Doutor (5)

Also seeing their orders, alot customers head for their long black drip. Beans smells good too.

Doutor (6)

Their pastries do looks good and their best seller is Original Croffle @ RM 7 for 1 pair.

Doutor (7)

Doutor (8)

Besides those pastries, they do have warm food too.

Doutor (9)

Doutor (11)

Ordered their Honey Cafe Latte @ RM 13 which is also was recommended by the cashier. Turns out to be pretty good. Hint of mild coffee taste with a subtle hint of honey end.

Doutor (12)

Of course do get a pair of their best seller. Nicely cook, where this croffle to me is actually like a combination of Belgian liege waffle with croissant. Slightly chewy yet you can get the croissant texture. Coated with some caramelize sugar like how Belgian liege waffle original is.

Doutor (13)

Doutor (14)

Croissant Twist @ RM 8

Doutor (15)

This is by far one of the most interesting signature coffee as this is Military Latte @ RM 16. You taste bud will be filled with  multiple layer of flavour that do make you confuse. You get to taste a hint of seaweed, nice green tea aroma, some burnt chocolate taste yet a very nice flavour of coffee after taste. This or Honey latte would be a recommended item.

Did went back again to grab a take away Classic Latte @ RM 11. Their coffee is very mild in taste and some of you might find that their milk will be slightly strong in taste.

Its another new gimmick in town for you to try and insta. Not my type of ice cream that I will go for.

Yuk Bebek deliver authentic Indonesian Food to You

$

I always love Indonesian food, since I used to travel to Jakarta a few times a year and my friends always bring me to their local street food to enjoy the best of their local food. On and off I will miss their food where Wareong Penyet is one of my favourite place till Yuk Bebek is founded by two local Malaysians that just came back to Malaysia along to share their favourite authentic Indonesian food with us.

yuk Bebek (2)

Was introduce to Yuk Bebek a month ago where their packaging is still like a simple rice box. We tried their recommendations and my team loves it.

yuk Bebek (3)

I love their Gado Gado, where it is quite a local Jakarta street version with peanut sauce which is thick enough that gives you the little sweet fragrant yet slightly creamy.

yuk Bebek (4)

We ordered again second round to found out that they have change packaging to striking yellow and black base that shows Yuk Bebek with 25 years of authentic Indonesian Recipe.

yuk Bebek (5)

YUK! Ayam Goreng Bandung (Bandung Fried Chicken) @ RM 14.50. Love the rice base as it is known as Nasi Uduk where the rice is so fragrant where it is quite similiar to our nasi minyak. Chicken is well marinated and cook to perfection where the skin is suppose to be slightly flat and a little crisp as how is should be.

yuk Bebek (6)

With the saying or their main branding is, YUK! Bebek Goreng Empuk (Signature Fried Duck) @ RM 15.60 is actually their signature item. Love how the duck breast is being prepared where a bit dry on edges, slightly crips on the skin and meat is slightly soft as it should be.

yuk Bebek (7)

This is the main highly where it is a must also while enjoying your meal. From 3 types of chili base for you to choose from, I always mix the 3 together that will create you an instant fiery impact. The top red chili is not that spicy as it add on colours and little spicy note into it and the most deceiving is the green chili where it is the spiciest among the three where it is also my favourite. Mild sourish and give you a punch of spiciness as I like. The soup is perfect!

yuk Bebek (8)

this is one of my team favorite (most of them are girls) YUK! Pecel Lele Lamongan (Lamongan Fried Catfish) @ RM 12.90 as this do consider their little diet to make them feel less guilty. Soft meat which did not over cook.

yuk Bebek (9)

Another chicken.

yuk Bebek (10)

YUK! Udang Asam Jawa (Jawa Asam Prawn) @ RM 17 is another option where their Asam prawn taste slightly different from us as they are heading towards slightly more spicy side. It is well marinated on the asam as I like.

yuk Bebek (11)

Each set is sent with Indonesian Nasi Uduk, Sayur Asam Soup, Emping Melinjo, and orange. Teh Botol Sosro 250ml is in it too. I certainly do like their homecook version recipi and this is quite near to authentic Indonesian Food as you can get in Malaysia. Hope their quality remains in the future.

Wild Honey is a Singapore – based cafe that had made a strong pretense in their local context. Moving over to the shore of Malaysia, the first Wild Honey Malaysia is located on Pavilion KL 6th floor by replacing previous tenant Spasso Milano.

With its tag line Wild Honey – No Place like Home is one of a cafe that offers all Day Breakfast and I think they did a collaboration or Common Man Coffee Roasters are associate with them?

Wild Honey (6)

It is indeed an impressive cafe, for such a scale and renovations to offer only All day Breakfast Menu.

My order was Delancey – Pastrami Benedict featuring Sacha & Sons pastrami, poached eggs & grain mustard Hollandaise on signature brioche. @ RM 40

Wild Honey (13)

Melbourne

Crisp Potato pancakes, house cured gravalax, avocado, salmon pearls & horseradish creme fraiche & pickled cucumber.

Wild Honey (14)

Both dish were rather disappointing as for the kind of price that I am paying, I would expect more – in terms of flavours & presentation. One of the reason is also my expectation was built up that how good this place was. For the price I am paying, I could opted Yeast that serve better quality food. Portion were small too and I still think I do not mind to pay for Common Man Roasters Brunch Menu.

According to my friend, the safest bet to dine here for a dish will be Norwegian, to add on, she commented that it taste much better in Singapore.

For this outlet, there are mix taste reaction. I had not so good as some of my friends find it good. It is up for yourself to experience it.

#Croffle at Maison de Gigi @ Ansa Sidewalk Island, Bukit Bintang, KL

To some travelers especially those who love to travel to Japan, there is this waffle shop is popular family own business in Shinsaibashisu Osaka known as Maison de gigi with their cool cat logo. This famous little stall had expanded into the heart of Bukit Bintang. This might be another new pit stop for many travelers or snacks must eat in Kuala Lumpur.

Maison de gigi (2)

They have just open for business 2 days ago and their menu is quite interesting. The menu here is very different from what they offer in Osaka – known as Belgian liege waffle as the version in Malaysia is known as Croffle. It is A hybrid of Waffle + croissant hence known as #croffle.

Maison de gigi (3)

They do have some merchandise available too.

Maison de gigi (4)

I am excited over this as they serve Nitro Dandy Tea or Coffee. Those who could not drink Guinness Stout, this is definitely alternative option as it do give you the smooth and creamy top. This process is actually Cold-brew coffee infused with nitrogen gas is released through a pressurized valve, with high pressure forces through one of the process, that is how it creates a creamy, stout-like effect.

Maison de gigi (6)

Look how creamy it is.

Maison de gigi (8)

Maison de gigi (7)

Both have very distinctive taste as it do give you love and hate relationship. Long black drinkers will love this Nitro Dandy @ RM 9.90 Coffee as they use Indonesia Mandheling & Tanzania Specialty beans that gives you the chocolaty, medium strong body with a light lemon tang. – mild acidic and bitterness. love the aroma of it and smooth body.

My favourite will be the Nitro Dandy Tea as they use Specialty Organic Tea Leave which is also Caffeine Free that gives you the fruity floral aroma of Hibiscus, Rosehip, Lemongrass and tangerine.

Maison de gigi (9)

Maison de gigi (10)

Maison de gigi (11)

Croffle is prepare fresh so do have some patient in waiting. While waiting, the buttery arome of it is just tempting. Look at the puffy Croffle. Crispy edged and flakes just falls apart.

Maison de gigi (12)

Got Relax Wit (Pandan) @ RM 6.90 & Exciting Volcano (Spicy Sausage & Corn) @ RM 7.90. In love with this new snacks as it gives you nice buttery aroma, cripsy edges that give you nice mouth bite and pair it with either Nitro Dandy Coffee or Tea is just perfect. Exciting volcano do give you a little punch of mild spicy and I love it. Pandan is pretty classic as it is quite similar like eating mooncake.

Did try another one which is Harmony Chipechee (Chicken Papperoni & Cheese) @ RM 7.90 filling is just nice. Wish that they could have more cheese to my liking.

Maison de gigi (13)

Some one ordered this drinks and took a picture of it. It is under their Sparkling Refreshers @ RM 7.90 (R) and sure do look refreshing under this hot weather.

Maison de gigi (14)

While heading back to pick up my car, then saw there is a line already during after working hours.

Maison de gigi (15)

Enjoy this new snacks and certainly will be coming back again.

First Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory opening at Pavilion, KL

[Happy New Year 2017 Everyone]. Since it is year of chicken and lets kick start off with Korean Fried Chicken. Korean food is spreading its influence around the world and Malaysians do love variety of food. Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory will be another famous Korean Chain that will be establishing their first presence in the heart of our city- Pavilion, KL.

Chir Chir (2)

The way to pronounce in Koreans is ‘Chi-ruh Chi-ruh‘ . Right before the opening of their first outlet in KL, we got to experience Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory at 313 Somerset Orchard Road, Singapore.

Chir Chir (3)

Korean Fried chicken have also grown their popularity over the years Due to product placement in a lot of Korean Drama. Fried chicken is also known as their staple home cook dish before it got popularize. The raise of the popularity also making Chir Chir expand its wing with more than 100 stores in South Korea.

Chir Chir (4)

Chir Chir (5)

Love their ambiance, as it is very simple, cheeky and playful environment that have a lot of props hanging here and there.

Chir Chir (6)

Being a fun chicken house, they also provide you with their signapture utensils that allow your finger to slip it in and clip onto any of your preferred chicken pieces and bite from there without dirtying your fingers. They do prepare a mini bucket at the side to let you throw away the bones.

Chir Chir (7)

Menu is filled with pictures that makes us easy to pick our choices.

Chir Chir (8)

When the first drink arrived, I got excited as this is the first time I see an interesting fusion beer, known as their Signature Chir Cream Beer. Smooth whipped cream on the top to add a little smooth and if you drink it together indeed it is quite interesting.

Chir Chir (9)

Chir Chir (10)

Some of the menu recommended drinks are Passion Fruit and Blue Sky Tok! Tok! Both are available in alcohol or cocktail. In these drink, they have a little twist of flavor in each cup as the base is making the difference of taste after you stir it.

Chir Chir (11)

Red-gizer, is the most interesting as it is top with a canned of Red Bull. The trick to  drink this as you need to slide out the can and let Red Bull flood the mug, then mix it together.

Chir Chir (12)

See how Esther is enjoying her drink.

Chir Chir (13)

Diners who think Fried Chicke is too heavy then, Honey Grape Salad is a great option . Filled with seedless grapes, raisins, nuts and whipped cream. I love the little thin cracker that gives you the little crack and aromatic flavor which is needed.

Chir Chir (14)

Another dish that will slightly mess up with your tongue is this Spicy Topokki. Serve in fiery red soup base that might give you an instant impression that it spicy and will make make you sweat right before you dig in. Filled with Cajun battered squid, egg, fish cakes, and toppoki. Love the slightly creamy gravy that is sourish sweet and the spiciness kicks in after a few more sips of the gravy. Some of you who could not take spicy, this might be a challenge.

Chir Chir (15)

Cheese is part of the new trend in Korean food. For their fusion series, they do have Mac & Cheese that is serve on a hot pan, with sea of shredded melted cheddar. Another option is  Topokki & Cheese that is serve with a combination of rice cakes with creamy cheese sauce, chicken ham and bacon bits.

Chir Chir (16)

Chir Chir (16.0)

Kicking off with their chicken series, head for their classic Crispy Fried Chicken to start of with. A classic recipe that have it crunch outside and fill with nice mild fragrant after taste. Do not miss dipping into their special sauce where it do enhance the flavor of it. Learn the trick of using the chicken clip and it feels quite interesting. Indeed I do not need to find a basin to wash of but I still prefer using hand to enjoy my fried chicken.

Chir Chir (16.1)

Another of my personal favorite is this Honey Butter Chicken . Chicken is cook to perfection and also marination is season well. Taste of honey and butter were quite prominent yet chicken meat is not too dry. The sauce do give you a little sweet end that make the taste a great combination.

Chir Chir (17)

If you like punchy flavours, Garlicky Tenders is coated in special soy sauce and crunchy garlic bits. They have fried topokki too. Just bite the whole pieces as this is boneless chicken tenders that have sweet and slightly sticky combination.

Chir Chir (21)

Chicken wing lovers will fall in love with this as it is a whole plate of chicken wings. The Spicy Wings! Is caramelize in Chir Chir special sauce with sweet potato cubes and rice cakes. Almond bits were sprinkle ontop to give you additional nice crunchy bites.

Chir Chir (22)

Serve in a hot pan is this Spicy BBQ Roasted Chicken comes with oven-roasted chicken in spicy BBQ sauce. The effect is the same as Spicy topokki.  The usual thought when a food is wrap in aluminum foil is potato but this wrong we are wrong as it is  one whole salted baked egg, and a hearty serving of baked potato with sour cream.

Chir Chir (23)

The Nest Snow is the most interesting food presentation compare to others. Filled with Cajun chicken tenders, that sits in a sea of cream sauce and sweet potato mash, topped with freshly whipped cream and grated cheese. This portion is meant to share.

Got to know another Fried Chicken Brand that will be coming soon and do prepare to get your fingers dirty or use their little chicken clip when they operate in Pavilion in January.

*Another best way to enjoy this is by sharing. Often we say sharing is caring and this is certainly the time to share as  do come with a group of friends or with family members as the portion here is quite big.

Restaurant Penang Corner @ Kepong

Restaurant Penang Corner is one of a hidden gem that serve Penang hawker food in Kepong. Their taste is slightly different as I believe their cooking method is more towards Penang Mainland version. However they still offer great selection as most of the operator are from Penang.

Restaurant Penang Corner (2)

Restaurant Penang Corner (3)

This might look like a hawker center but its a table ordering system. Just find a  place and 1 auntie or uncle that is responsible taking order will be with you to take order.

Restaurant Penang Corner (4)

Love the instant Koey Teow Noodle that cook on the spot . . .

Restaurant Penang Corner (5)

Their Coffee Ice is decent.

Restaurant Penang Corner (6)

Chai Kuih do look authentic as they are quite similiar to one of the stall that I had in Bukit Mertajam 3 years ago where the skin is slightly thicker and 2 flavour – one is Sengkuang and another one veggie. Veggie is filled with mini fried shrimp. I think it is so so only.

Restaurant Penang Corner (7)

Prawn Noodle is awesome. Soup base do have sweetness and fragrant prawn head shell and also slightly sweet end. Love mind by adding 2 spoonful chili paste.

Restaurant Penang Corner (8)

This is one of their signature as this is Authentic White Penang Curry Mee. Serve with pork blood, fresh cockles, fried bean curd, cuttle fish and pork ball. The most important ingredient is the chili paste where it is quite fragrant. After adding in the chili paste, it might look fiery red, it is not spicy as only add fragrant into it. Soup base is sweet, fill with mild fragrant coconut taste. Just nice to my liking.

Restaurant Penang Corner (10)

Restaurant Penang Corner (9)

This is also another of my favourite where the soup base is punch with flavour as it is in Penang. This instant Penang Koey Teow Soup is different from the Duck meat Koay Teow soup as the preparation method is different. Quite generous in ingredient and portion is medium big.

Restaurant Penang Corner (11)

Their Ice – Kacang is very different from the island as this is also a version that I had in Taman Alma – Bukit Mertajam. they do add in milk, thick gula melaka, red bean and other ingredient. Worth to give it a try as many years ago when I encounter this I find it weird, however I was thought this is their classic version.

Right after Christmas, next big major festive is Chinese New Year. Well, one of a well known local favourite ice cream brand, Sangkaya Opulence Bowl & Fortune Shake is offered during this festive period. . Both are available in two flavours.

SAngkaya CNY (2)

In Chinese tradition, often associate something with good sign as this round, Orange and Pineapple hold a strong symbolization in the Chinese culture as they symbolize good fortune and wealth.

SAngkaya CNY (3)

Among the two flavours, I like Pineapple Zest Bowl more as give you the little hint of pineapple to my liking. @ RM 8.40. The same goes with their Fortune Shake @ RM 7.40. Pineapple is preferred.

SAngkaya CNY (4)

Upon purchase they do give out fortune cookies. with this remark, I guess best to lay low and constantly learning.

Croissant Taiyaki is another famous “hybrid” premium dessert from Japan has finally landed in Malaysia! This dessert house has finally chosen Pavilion as one of their first stop as Taiyaki is a traditional Japanese fish-shaped cake that’s usually filled with red bean paste.

Croissant Taiyaki (1.1)

Croissant Taiyaki is under the same owner as they are being house together with Gindako.

Croissant Taiyaki (3)

Menu is pretty straight forward as they only have 5 flavours for you to choose from and price starting from RM 6.50 per piece.

Croissant Taiyaki (4)

Croissant Taiyaki (5)

Croissant Taiyaki (6)

After ordering, just collect it at pick up counter. Depending on the availability of the ready puff, if not there are waiting time of 5-10 minutes.

Croissant Taiyaki (7)

For my pick, I have decided to go for Vanilla Custard  @ RM 6.50. Puff is crispy and texture is not bad. You can bite on the little cubes of sugar as you can see in the picture. Pastry is hot but filling is cold. Not a bad combination.

Croissant Taiyaki (8)

Croissant Taiyaki (9)

Of course need to try one of their classic which is Azuki Red Bean @ RM 7.50. Paste is just nice yet not too sweet. Besides that, I went another round to try out their hybrid filling which is Red Bean & Matcha Ice Cream @ RM 8.50. Turns out to be quite interesting. Feels like eating Ice Cream Roti.

Five Senses in The Westin KL have been living up with their reputation for quite a while by serving authentic Cantonese cuisine. As my friend knew that I love hotpot, she bought me dinner in this restaurant for their Special Hotpot series. It is a buffet Dinner @ RM 128nett that have 8 soup base available. Available only every Thursday night.

I tried two of their soup base – Prawn clear soup and Curry Laksa. Both the soup are rich in flavours, pack with punches and aromatic. Prawn Clear soup have its own unique taste that hits near to great prawn bisque. Can taste prawn shells flavour too. Curry Laksa is not too heavy, yet slight creamy to my liking and just could not stop drinking it.

For the gold pit- Tiger Prawns, it is indeed very fresh as usually I do not bother over it. As for this, the prawns is so fresh that the prawn shells can fill this 1 n half pot. Do not miss out their homemade lamb and squid balls. They are bouncy and good!

The only set back is the variety of vegetable and other ingredients are limited.

If you love Chinese food and looking for HALAL place to hit for, this is certainly one of the place to try out if you do not mind digging slightly deeper into your pocket. This hotpot is limited time only.

My best friend is craving for Thai food and this place was recommended by Bangsarbabe. Since the discovery of Moobaan Thai at Taman Desa, my friend had converted as one of their regular customer.  She at least visited this place twice a week.

Mooban Thai is a small eatery shop that serve quite near authentic Thai Street Food and also found out that the shop is run by a Penang kia.

Mooban Thai (4)

Mooban Thai (5)

Pad Kra Prao Moo (Stir Fried Mince Pork with Thai Basil leaves) @ RM 15. Love the punch of flavours with wok hei and it is good. Generous portion too.

Mooban Thai (6)

There are many versions of Phad Thai and this I quite like it. It is slightly on the moist side yet it is very fragrant. Love the aroma of the little mix of peanut and top with chili flakes just enhance the flavour of it. Reminds me one of a street hawker that I ate at Hatyai.

Mooban Thai (7)

Tomyum Nankon @ RM 15 is filled with pork slices. Amount of meat in there is alot! and it is really alot! Slightly creamy on the soup base which gives you the aroma of the lemon grass, the Thai leaf and mild spiciness that pairs well with it.

Flavours of Hanami is swinging its way to ISETAN The Japan Store, Lot 10 for a limited time period only. As the season of winter is finishing and spring is just around the corner, the team of Dai Nippon Printing Co, Ltd is bringing you the experience of Japan to Isetan Lot 10. During this period, they have set up 3 different types of experience for you known as The Gallery, Theater and Food.

Hanami (1)

At the Gallery, you can see the original Hanami bento boxes, the real tradition and craft of Japanese cuisine. There are some sake samples available too as you step into the exhibits area. Besides that, there are some sampling of  sake too.

Hanami (2)

Hanami (3)

Explanation of the most classic food which is the bento box by each individual chef.

Hanami (4)

Hanami (5)

At the Theater, you will be brought through on the season of Japan that is shown in HD. If it is in 3-D glasses with some smell effect, it would be indeed an awesome experience. Triggering your visual for the four Japanese seasons and the history and foundation of Kyoto food, which is considered the best of all Japanese cuisine is the second part of the journey.

Hanami (6)

In this testing session, Chef Sasaki gave a live presentation of his two signature dishes – Chirasizushi (Scattered Topping Sushi) and Saba-sugatazushi (Whole Mackerel Lightly Matured Sushi).

Hanami (8)

Before we start, lets share with you about Chef Sasaki history. He is the 7th generation chef that still holding strong on this classics signature restaurant in Kyoto – IZUU Restaurant that was established since 1781. Chef Sasaki is known for his culinary prowess in preparing the popular mackerel sushi.

After training for three years at a famous sushi restaurant in Osaka, he joined IZUU, with the aim to preserve the flavours and culture of Kyoto’s mackerel sushi. The sushi specialist continues the tradition of his forefathers, adding significant touches of Japanese flavours and culture into one of his most-loved dish, to pass it to the next generation. This method of luxury food is still by traditional methods by carefully selecting the ingredients including fatty mackerel from the ocean near Japan.

Hanami (9)

Hanami (10)

As the roll is prepared and upon cutting, you will see the mackerel shape in the sushi is prepare and cut to perfection where it resembles their brand logo, rabbit.

Hanami (11)

We were given 2 pieces of Saba-sugatazushi where one is freshly prepared and another piece is left overnight. Two pieces indeed do give you different taste as I love the one that left overnight where the taste of the fish is more pungent, slightly chewy and the flavour of the leaves smoke into the rice. It is indeed an enjoyable bite. Some others do prefer the fresh piece as it is fresh.

Hanami (12)

We also had the opportunity to try the Kyoto-style Chirashi-zushi (Scattered Topping Sushi) @ 3240JPY ~ RM120.00, which is another signature dish of Chef Sasaki. In case you are wondering what was ‘scattered’, there are kinshi egg, prawn, squid and sea bream. This is my first experience of Chirashi prepared from a well known chef.

The flavour is amazing, as the ingredient is prepared in layered and once you have the bowl, mix all the ingredient in it and it gives you burst of flavours in your mouth. Especially the fresh leaves that is used, it enhance the taste by giving a little freshness and slight bitterness to give your taste bud a bit of twist. The rice is done to perfection as it is mix with a special ingredient and the fully egg is indeed light and airy.

Hanami (13)

Hanami (14)

Hanami (15)

Great meal ended with the combination of Sakura Mochi & Japanese Green Tea. I love the taste of the leave that add on the fragrance of the sakura mochi, and of course if you eat it by its own it doesnt give you any excitement, as the reason of the warm green tea is there as for you to take a bit of the mochi while you are finishing to the end, drink a sip of the green tea as it opens up your taste bud to a whole new different aroma of the leaves and very nice fragrant lingering after that. I surely do not mind to have 2 set of this.

Hanami (16)

Original Cake (源味本鋪) @ Sunway Velocity, Cheras KL

Picture credit to – Original Cake

Who would have thought the next latest crazy hype is a simple homemade old-fashion egg sponge cake from Taiwan known as Original Cake had landed at Sunway Velocity, Cheras. Origin from Tamshui, Taiwan (臺灣淡水) that started since 2011. The hype for this shop is simply amazing that have created a huge buzz among all my friends and even week days, you have to queue 2-3 hours to get one. If I am not mistaken, I was told each person can only purchase 1.

Original Cake (2)

I was lucky that my friend help me to make a take away. Love their packaging.

Original Cake (3)

As I open the box, the cake sure do look a simple classic cake that we have locally and easily could get in our pasar malam too. Currently they have 2 flavours as the one my friend got for me is Classic @ RM 18 and another flavour that alot of my friends is aiming at is their Cheese @ RM 25 – that do have a melted slice cheese cheddar.

Other flavours to launch in the future will be :Spurted Chocolate, Healthy Dried Longan, Banana Milk, Cranberry, and Almond and Nuts

Original Cake (4)

As I pick it up, believe the cake texture have dense up as I do expect soft and fluffy sponge cake. As you can see, the base is also quite thick.

Original Cake (5)

Original Cake (6)

After a bite, only release that it is a pretty normal cake. However, the light and airy taste comes after that. The taste of mild fragrant egg with is there and mild milk sweetness that pairs quite well at the very end of the bite. The base that is quite thick, gives you the bitterness of mild burnt taste, also believe that the separation of ingredient is quite prominent where the top half is softer and the bottom half is more dense. The taste is very straight forward and I believe we can get such cake in our Pasar Malam. In the box, mention that it can store maximum of 3 days in refrigerator.

I believe that, the texture will be different if you eat it fresh. However, I will go again after 3 months as to queue for a cake for 2-3 hours, I will settle with some at Pasar Malam first as my friend told me you can get quite similiar to this in Taman Connought Night Market. Another reason for such a long time will be similiar to when Uncle Tetsu started, baking time per oven.
