El Gusto de Espana @ The Barn, Pavilion, KL

One of a wine spot that got into my friends list is The Barn at 1 Mont Kiara. With one of the latest outlet operating at Pavilion KL, it do bring joy to some of my friend that work around that area. Decent to good wines, it is best to go pair along with a nice snacks or mains. Their latest seasonal menu Ibérico de Belotta pork imported from Spain that starts from May till 15th July will be a good pairing.

The Barn (2)

The outlet in Pavilion is definitely much bigger compare to their first outlet. Not only bigger, but also imagine that they now owns the longest bar in KL.

The Barn (3)

The Barn (4)

Those who love their stout, you can get them here too as they have happy hour during weekdays and as for weekend, they do have livebands too.

The Barn (5)

The Barn (6)

some selection of wine for you to choose from at their rack.

The Barn (7)

Some private dining area for a small group.

The Barn (8)

As for Sunday and you do dine here, you get a complimentary salad on the bar with a mix of your choice.

The Barn (9)

Their usual ala cart menu which is available 24/7

The Barn (10)

Let’s dig into their seasonal menu by starting off with a very nice cut of meat which all flown in from Spain. Ibérico Magro is cook to perfection where the middle is still slightly rare where this texture is slightly chewy too. It is a definate must to pair with a glass of red. You can opt by getting their house red wine which turns out to be very good.

The Barn (11)

The Barn (12)

Ibérico Solomillo Carpaccio is one of the most tender of cuts that’s best appreciated for its fine marbling and texture. Best to be paired with delicious cheese and rockets it elevates the rich nutty flavour of the Iberico Pork. You can opt to go for their house wine Red (best if it is shiraz or dry wine) or chilled white that brings out the flavour of it.

The Barn (13)

Ibérico Presa with Chutney is actually a shoulder cut and there are 2 version of it.  One which is their classic and another one which is their BBQ.. For both comparison, I definitely like their original better as it gives better texture and classic taste to my palate. Just nice with a touch of some sea salt on top to bring a nice salty taste of it. As for BBQ, the other couple prefer this over the classic as they love the slight smokey char taste  of it and it is also slightly caramelize.

The Barn (14)

BBQ flavour

The Barn (15)

If you are a person who love to have a dish by yourself, then Presa is the perfect choice for you. not too heavy as the cut is just nice for a person portion. Sauce is just night that give a nice touch to the meat yet did not over power it. A balance of slight sourish touch to the nice cut of meat.

The Barn (16)

The Barn (17)

100% Jamon Ibérico de Belotta would be a perfect sharing dish to those that like slightly heavy taste of meat as it is cured for 36 months and a very nice cut of dry meat. Of course, I would love to have this with my dry red wine or super chilled white to pair with it.

The Barn (18)

As the meals finishes, and I am trilled with their local variety, hence Otak-Otak  is a must have in my list. Indeed this is a perfect piece to my liking as it is very smiliar to the one in Penang. Slightly heavy spice with nice herb leave and a long piece of fish meat in it. Recommended one. RM 20

The Barn (19)

Besides that, I also found out that Bak Kut Teh in the Barn is actually one of their signature. It turns out to be not bad as I usually like my BKT in strong herbs taste however this is still acceptable where it is a drinking joint that the taste pairs will with beer or even stout! @ RM 35

The Barn (20)

As for finishing, their Lava Chocolate is a must order. I can finish this myself as it is perfectly bake with the cake crust is slightly hard yet easy to break, and once it break, chocolate just ooze out like lava. A perfect finishing!

The Barn (21)

The Barn (22)

This is by far one of my most unique dessert finishing as it is not flaming Lamborghini however it is liquor Affogato. Quite an interesting coffee ending.

Penang Line Clear Nasi Kandar (LC Restaurant) @ Kampung Baru, KL

One of the biggest Mamak foot hit was the famous Penang Line Clear Nasi Kandar had migrated down to Kampung Baru at KL. It was a big news to many Line Clear fans from Penang including myself. However I only pay a visit to them after a year plus in operations. This was through a family dispute and hence this branch is born. As what my friend said, they are the operator for Penang outlet for the past 10 years.

Line Clear (2)

The new premises is more clean and more spacious. However parking over here could cost easily around RM 5 – RM 10 as most of them is private carpark.

Line Clear (3)

Line Clear (4)

As I see their usual fried chicken basket, the colour tone had change. NO longer the same as Penang.

Line Clear (5)

Their usual sequence of sauce and curry is also the same as the Penang one.

Line Clear (6)

The fatty guy is no longer the main Clear and whistle blower guy, he had become thinner.

Line Clear (7)

This is my usual ordering even as my supper when I am in Penang. Cabbage, daging a piece of fried chicken and kuah banjir (flood mix curry gravy)

Line Clear (8)

My friend is craving for nan and ended up ordering Cheese Tandori Nan. For this set, it is quite disappointing.

As overall, it is no longer as good as what I had in Penang and there are hits and misses. Well, I guess now for KL mamak, Pelita Nasi Kandar will still be my preferred choice.

Sichuan Cuisine @ Kuchai Lama

I am a big fan of China cuisine and it is kinda hard to find decent one in KL as we constantly end up in Restaurant TKS, Jalan Alor. Sichuan Cuisine at Kuchai Lama  is a new hidden discovery by us and it’s Chuan Xiang Ge (川香阁 ). As we found out, the food is authentic Sichuan Cuisine.

Sichuan Cuisine (2)

If you drive pass by, it do capture your attention as you look into the shop, it is filled with classic China interior.

Sichuan Cuisine (3)

Sichuan Cuisine (4)

Sichuan Cuisine (5)

Sichuan Cuisine (6)

Sichuan Cuisine (7)

Sichuan Cuisine (8)

There are a few items that we will not miss to order is 1. The hot and sour potato (醋溜土豆絲). The potatoes are finely slices where till the texture taste like cabbage. Slightly crunchy and dash of vinegar, dry chili and peppercorn is indeed perfect. .

Sichuan Cuisine (9)

Classic, Simple and hit the notes is Boiled dumplings or Pan Fried dumplings are a must when I eat Sichuan food; Just dip it with chilli oil to get the taste up. Skin here is slightly ticker than the usual and filling is a bit small.

Sichuan Cuisine (10)

Sichuan Duck Soup is good. Where the soup is filledwith salted veggie, raddish and filled with generous ingredients, salty to my liking and pack with flavour.

Sichuan Cuisine (11)

Classic dish of sichuan is Sliced Beef Tripe in Chili Oil with Peanuts. Simple, not too spicy, yet every single bite gives you the right amount of spicy that is needed.

Sichuan Cuisine (12)

Another dish that is a must order for us is Chongqing-style Dry-fried Chicken with Dried Chillies and Peppercorn. We just love to dig through this moutain sea of dry chilli. A treasure hunting dish as if you accidentally bite on the peppercorn, all I can say is good luck.

Sichuan Cuisine (14)

Another must have Sichuan Specialty for us is Shui Zhu Yu. Love the thickness of gravy and the density of pepercon in this bowl will just make you crazy to swipe it aside. Fish is always the prefered choice, however there are certain shop is good in pork.

Sichuan Cuisine (13)

With all the dishes, they serve inhouse special fragrant rice.

Sichuan Cuisine (15)

Chinese Mapo taufu is quite classic, however mapo tofu is a dish that we will rarely order, however after looking at the dish next table, we decided to add on order. Taste profile is indeed quite interesting. Spicy peppercorn, black bean, mild sweet, sour and spicy. Well balance of taste and just add rice in it, is perfect.

Sichuan Cuisine (16)

As the lady owner told us that Chongqing roast fish (kao yu) is well known in China and is also the shop signature. We also place an order along and truely enough, it is a good dish. bake and charcoal grilled. Taste is only mild spicy and do not let the chilli deceive you.

Will certainly come back here again as the dishes are good and price is pretty reasonable.

Hennessy X.O. Odyssey @ DC Restaurant, TTDI, KL

Those of you out there who loves food with something extraordinary, a special collaboration of Hennessy X.O. Odyssey that is taking place from July 18 through August 15 at Darren’s DC Restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. A dinner that will elevate  your palate of both modern cooking along with contrast of cognac by having Darren behind the scene cooked professionally for 14 years & trained in France for two and was handpicked by the House of Hennessy to helm this year’s Malaysian arc of its global X.O. Odyssey campaign, which explores the contours & contrasts of cognac like never before.

Hennessy (1)

Hennessy (2)

The Hennessy X.O. Odyssey could be 2017’s most rewarding journey, traversing oceans abroad & farms at home, conveying seven courses to caress the senses, each chapter complemented by evolving expressions of France’s original ‘extra old’ cognac, first bottled by Maurice Hennessy for his closest of friends in 1870.

Hennessy (3)

Hennessey X.O’s seven chapters, characterized by Sweet Notes, Infinite Echo, Wood Crunches, Spicy Edge, Flowing Flame, Rising Heat and Chocolate Lull, provide the culinary platform for Chef Darren’s creative vision to this exquisite menu.

Hennessy (4)

Hennessy (5)

All guest will be enjoying elegant starter along with Hennessy X.O. Odyssey.. Darren’s prelude to the main Hennessy meal is a reassuring reflection of his skills & artistry, whetting the appetite via Cameron Highlands beefsteak heirloom tomatoes with olive oil & DC’s house-baked bread & croissants, followed by Irish nugget oysters with ikura, umi budo seaweed & ponzu sauce; local sole, ceviche-style, with basil oil, wood sorrels & tempura of curry leaf; & potato croquettes with green gazpacho.

Hennessy (7)

Hennessy (6)

Hennessy (8)

Carefully prepared with finest local ingredient and culinary skills presents delicious starter to hit on. Oyster is indeed a blast where it is so fresh, and a sip of neat cognac pairs amazingly good. Did not over power the freshness of oyster.

Hennessy (9)

Hennessy (10)

The culinary equivalent of Homer’s epic poem comes to Kuala Lumpur this month, courtesy of a collaboration between Hennessy & celebrated Malaysian chef Darren Chin: The Hennessy X.O.

Hennessy (11)

Hennessy (12)

Hennessy (13)

Menu for this dinner is interesting.

Hennessy (14)

With great friends in the table and excellent dinner service, what could we ask for more with a glass of cognac to enjoy.

Hennessy (16)

Hennessy (17)

Love the homemade bread prepared as it is slightly crips on edges and very fragrant inside out.

Hennessy (18)

Sweet Notes

Starting of with sweet note with savory composition of Botan Ebi with Heirloom Tomato Granita, Konbu, Lemon Basil & Chili Oil led to a great start of the evening, paired with HXO on the Rocks. Love the plating along with the colour combination that gives the vibrancy of it. A simple mouthful of mixture gives you an explosive flavours which is well balance of seafood freshness, eruption of saltiness from salmon roe yet perfume oil enhance it with. Get a sip of HXO and it elevates the aroma mouth and make it stronger. Interesting! S

Hennessy (19)

Hennessy (20)

Second dish Infinite Echo comes out rather plain and looks a bit dull.  Darren’s signature offering of Ogawa bafun uni from Hokkaido with Takao cold somen & truffle celeriac cream is a mask in disguise as it paired with Hennessy X.O. (with a splash of room-temperature water that opens up the cognac further). The aroma of both dish just sinks in where truffle celeriac did not overpower all the flavour in it yet uni is awesomely fresh, soft and cold somen is a perfection combination. The warm cognac preserve the taste of uni and truffle.

Hennessy (21)

Hennessy (22)

Wood Crunches

Love the complexity that is being serve. Octopus from Galicia is next. Look at the colour of perfectly caramelize burnt octopus, added with burnt leeks in dark rye crumbs, green papaya & green gazpacho. Wood Crunches, harmonised perfectly with Hennessy X.O. (blended with warm water this time) that flows with bold oak notes interlaced with vanilla, simultaneously & surprisingly rustic & refined. The wood in it compliments well with cognac, okay, substle vanilla as you go for one bite, give you a well balance of bitter, sweetness from crab meat and fragrant from all the elements in there

Hennessy (23)

Hennessy (24)

Spicy Edge

Love the complexity of this soup yet I wish I have another pot. Snow Crab Consomme infuse with lemon balm. Drink HXO with a splash of water as you get a mild taste of fine cognac’s spicy peppery note.

Hennessy (25)

Hennessy (26)

This dish feels like a hibiscus to me as in it is filled with Japanese Snow Crab, White Asparagus, Culantro “Nam Jim” & Black Summer Truffle. Snow crab is the hero where the sweetness awesome yet truffle pieces did not overpower it  and  mild sour spicy from culantro with  lime foam & fragrant flowers (again, from DC’s own cultivation).

Hennessy (27)

Hennessy (28)

Flowing Flame

Flavours of flame brings you Organic Chicken, Bertutu Spice, Vegetables from our Farm & Vegetable Vinaigrettes. The chick is tender, juicy yet love the grill taste on the chicken skin  with some balinese spice with vinaigrette paired with Hennessy X.O. with a splash of cold water & ice. To provide you a full and robust body structure.

Hennessy (29)

Rising Heat

Italian Veal Fillet Poached in Milk and Lightly Grilled with a Foie Gras Emulsion & Red Kampote Pepper could not have been executed any better. One of the main highlight where the veal fillet was perfectly poached till tender and plush pink before finished with on the grill. Accompanied by tempura battered zucchini flower, crisp snow peas and a foie gras sauce and on a bed of silky smooth mash. Besides that, we were serve with a gorgeous Laguiole steak knives. A perfect dish to enjoy with HXO neat.

Hennessy (30)

Hennessy (31)

Exciting food journey that comes with a great ending. Luring the finale with 100% Arabica Coffee Ice Cream, Spiced Hairy Banana, M’Hencha & Lemon Chantilly, the intensity of the coffee went surprisingly very well with HXO neat on the earthiness side. Enjoying every bits of what on our top local chef have to offer. I am definately aiming on Chef Darren Chins invitation for dining experience in his kitchen area that fits for 2-3 pax for experimental gastronomy.

Hennessy (32)

On a random night heading to eat one of my favourite claypot porridge, only realise it is close on Monday. Then we just hop to next door to check Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle at Kepong out.

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (2)

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle is running on a neighbourhood business and it is a family run business (mother and daughter)

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (3)

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (4)

When I heard the word Curry Mee and instantly I put an order for 1 bowl. Love the aroma of flower and curry spices in it. Gives you the soupy base which is not too thick yet very aromatic. Do add in alot of their homemade chili to enhance the taste of it. I put in 1 table spoon which is just perfect. If you eat their originality, it is good enough too.

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (6)

This is one of their signature – Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle. Love the clarify of the soup, mild in taste and to those of you are not used to it, the flavour might be too pale for you. I love it as once in a while to have such a simple dish is perfect! After had a bite of their home made fish ball (yellow colour) we immediately place order of another bowl of it. Love the chewy, bouncy texture as you know the paste is hand beaten.

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (7)

Teo Chiew Fish Ball Noodle (5)

Not only that, as their simple Chinese Tong Sui is perfect. If you do not like tong sui which is too sweet then this place is a perfect place to make a take away. Love their REd Bean soup as cook to perfection where red bean just crack open, not too sweet and the texture of red bean is not over cook, less sweet too. The other one is Tong Sui with egg. Just a perfect bowl to end this simple meal and definately will be back again!

Total damage is around RM40 as did make take away 1 fish ball noodle and 2 tong shui. Price is very reasonable for such homey meal. They are also famous for their yong taufu as I reach at 9pm, it was already sold out.

Brasserie 25 (23)

Brasserie 25 (24)

If you have a feel to hit on a glass for pairing, not a bottle then their house wine is pretty good. I ordered a glass Bordeux which is like a shiraz that pairs really well with my red meat. slightly dry with a hint of spiciness that enhance the flavour of gravy.

Brasserie 25 (26)

A dish that had been braised for long hours, Joue de Boeuf Braisee – Braised Beef Cheek, Red Wine Carrot and mushroom Pearl – Onion Mashed Potato is a dish that the meat will near melt in your mouth. Best advise to share this dish for maximum satisfaction . @ RM 120

Kurin (2)

Open up my don rice – Don White Rice + Classic Salmon Japanese Short Grain @ RM 18. Salmon is fresh and love the beautiful colour ingredients on top of it. Simple yet delicious as the soy sauce base they use is fragrant. Did feed back to them to lessen the soy base or to put it separately to allow us to add in accordingly.

Kurin (4)

One of my preferred choice is Niku Tofu – Hardpressed Diced Japanese Tofu torched with our homemade Teriyaki sauce. RM 10(R) | RM 15(L). Simple meal which is good, direct and delicious.

Kurin (3)

Kurin (5)

Among the 3 we ordered, I prefer their Pokeritto + Ponzu Tuna – Diced Tuna whisked and marinated with our soy-based tangy citrus sauce. RM 20(R) | RM 25(L). Currently, one of my favourite hangout spot is at this AirStream Cafe that is located in this famous APW, Bangsar. A simple cozy place for me to catch up with friends and nice chit chat.

This is also sort of like a Pop-up cafes in slightly modernize concept. Space are pretty limited as they only have a few tables and chairs along the pavement area.

They do offer some sandwiches, wraps, hotdog, coffee, waffle and pancakes.

It seems that Korean Bbq shop is popping every where now. One of the latest arrival from Korea to Malaysia is this new brand – Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ that is currently operating their first shop at Taman Desa. As for the sides, they serve you with their signature onion dressing with apple with apple infuse soy base, and their thick honey apple. With the apple slices, the purpose of this is to:

  1. Upon your Pork meat is done, you put the pork meat onto one apple slices (instead of the usual with vegetable)
  2. Then add on with onion apple soy on top, follow by the honey apple sauce.
  3. Then you put everything into your mouth to get the burst of fragrant bbq apple and sweetness of it

Remark: do not put too much as the flavour of sweetness might be overpowering the juicy pork.

Apple Samgyupsal (10)

BOKA3006

Just like this. You will get a nice juicy texture and crisp from apple.

Apple Samgyupsal (11)

Cooking with pork belly slices as the meat might be too fatty for me. Samgyupsal – Spicy @ RM

Makoto Japanese Cuisine @ Desa Sri Hartamas

One of a hidden gem in Hartamas is this restaurant Makoto Japanese Cuisine that is also offering authentic Japanese food.. It is indeed there are quite number of Japanese Eatery in the area and all of them have their own unique item. A place that previously known as Hikari-ya and had change to Makoto. As for “Makoto” in Japanese means “Sincerity”, “Honesty” and “Essence”.

Makoto (1)

Direct collaboration with the Executive Chef of a traditional Japanese eel restaurant in Tokyo, which has more than 200 years history ad has been loved by celebrities like top politicians and business executives.

One of the signature item in this eatery is Eel. It is not your ordinary eel that we always eat where the eel is actually alive and fresh that air flown all the way from Japan. Eel has been a part of Japanese cuisine for nearly 5000 years. (The bone of Eel was found in many historical remains that existed in 5000 years ago). Cooking this classic this will head onto classci cooking method such as the Kabayaki way of cooking – barbecued with soy sauces, was establish back in Edo Era.

Makoto (3)

Makoto (2)

This is one of quite a rare restaurant that mostly dine by Japanese and according to the owner, most of them felt like home as the cooking method is indeed classic Japanese style.

Makoto (4)

Makoto (5)

Makoto (6)

After you have been seated down, the manager will come by with this white board to explain on their Special menu available daily, including Japan seasonal item

Makoto (7)

After saw their tap in the bar, decided to hit onto their Kirin Draught Beer @ RM 22

Makoto (8)

Oyster lover would indeed love this altot as the Fresh Oyster with ponzu sauce is fresh and sweet along with ponzu sauce lifted the nice salty aroma needed. @ RM 22

Makoto (10)

For the first time, I am dining something different in a Japanese Restaurant which is also known as one of the classic dish is this Yamaudo Sumiso (a type of wild plant from high mountain, topped with sumiso paste) @ RM 10. For the price you are paying, it is indeed worth to try that it gives you a very nice refreshing herb mild end taste yet jelly texture is quite unique and sweet end. – recommended.

Makoto (11)

Another unique item that taste like carrot is this Nama Junsai (waterlily) @ RM 10. Cut to perfection and cripsy texture like fresh apple, with a hint of nice fruit sweetness end is indeed nice. Top with chef special dressing do give a bit of sour saltiness end. – recommended.

Makoto (13)

Presented elegantly is this Daikon Angkake (white radish dish mixed with other ingredients) @ RM 18. Smells of fresh steam aroma trails the air as you bite on this soft texture, if give you burst of fresh daikon and green beans flavour.

Makoto (12)

Makoto (14)

This is the live eel that is still alive and kicking. Staying in their special water temperature at zero degree aquarium to preserve their living environment.

Preparation of Live Eel. (It does involve some slicing and cutting – do not be irk by it)

Makoto (15)

This chef had been handling eel since past 15 years and I have learnt one new thing is that, a chef that handle eel without gloves is professional chef.

Makoto (16)

Sashimi Platter @ RM 138

Makoto (18)

In this session, I was taught on the classic way of eating tempura is by dipping into salt, instead of their usual hot soy sauce with daikon. Special Tempura Platter (prawn, kisu, hamo tamanegi (onion), shishito (japanese chili), shiitake mushroom, ohba leave) @ RM 38

Makoto (21)

For Eel master, he mention that we should try on the classic method of cooking eel which is steam first then lightly grill on the hot griller stove for a quick cook. Shirayaki (white eel, eel seasoned with salt only) @ RM 168. I must say, this is one of the best eel that I have eaten in KL along with its cooking method. Cook to perfection where the skin is still intact and meat is soft, fragant with salt saltiness that melt in your mouth. A perfect piece to start on the meal.

Makoto (19)

There are no food wastage for this eel, as the bone that is left behind became a good companion for my Kirin Beer. Home Senbei is actually Eel Cracker @ RM 8. If you do have your beer there, do not miss to order this snack as it is fried to perfection that still have the perfect eel bone shape, nice fried fish taste with hint of saltiness at the end!

Makoto (20)

Makoto (23)

The next best dish for the night is in the making. Bath with chef special soy sauce for 3 rounds on this slow cook charcoal stove.

Tadaaa. Fresh Eel Don

Makoto (24)

The highlight for the night for me is this Charcoal Grill Eel Rice Box @ Half at RM 100++ / Full RM 185++. Definately one of the highly recommended dish that gives you the ultimate satisfaction. I am inlove with the special soy base that give you a very nice premium soy base taste that is not salty yet very fragrant as you know it will pairs well with any dish as a dipping sauce or cooking. I can just eat white rice and that soy sauce.

As perfect as the eel being grill on that stove for 15 minutes, the meat is so soft, fresh and love the charcoal after taste that lifted the fragrant of soy sauce. Indeed a perfect grilling piece of Eel.

Makoto (25)

***Unaju – big set – comes with whole unagi and kimo liver clear soup @ RM 185

Makoto (27)

As a closure, I am definately recommending Yuzu Sorbet @ RM 14. Yuzu base is not too strong and act as a good palate washer. Matcha Ice Cream is not bad too, as it give me the ocha’ness needed with the right amount. @ RM 14

Makoto (28)

Right after your palate washer, then of course end it with their Warabimochi (traditional Japanese dessert) @ RM 15. A bit jelly texture, with fragrant sugar syrup and peanut powder on it is just perfect to end my satisfaction dinner.

Makoto (29)

On 23rd September 2017: Special 1-night Unagi Course Menu led by Chef Otani Shinichiro, the 8th generation owner chef of Jubako Restaurant and Chef Hayashi Kazuhiko.

Penang Famous Prawn Noodle (4)

In this shop, they only focus on the most authentic serving of Prawn Noodle. There is no menu yet at the moment however these are the classics from the original owner:

When comes to Friday night, it is really indeed no idea where to hit on for drinking area, till I was recommended to this cool new place by my friend. Nomi Tomo Sake Bar is located in the heart of Bukit Damansara, KL. A bit of like speakseasy bar as where it is located on the 3rd floor of a shop lot. Below is one of the famous cafe – Huckleberry.

Nomi Tomo (1)

As the door open, it feels like you are entering into a Japanese bar, that you are greeted with 2 huge Japanese rice wine drum along with unique izakaya setting. As you turn to the right side, you you will see warm lighting, bamboo / wooden table and chairs and an amazing collection of sake available on the wall. .

Nomi Tomo (2)

Nomi Tomo (3)

Nomi Tomo (4)

Nomi Tomo (5)

The collections

Nomi Tomo (6)

Menu is rather small and simple as most of the food are on the grill . ..

Nomi Tomo (7)

Nomi Tomo (8)

And of course there are plenty of sake for you to choose from

Nomi Tomo (9)

Among the 2 bottles, i chose the one on the left which is recommended and of ourse Half Moon whisky would be recommended if you have a group of friends. After you pick sake, then next is for you to pick on your drinking glass.

Nomi Tomo (10)

Nomi Tomo (11)

Nomi Tomo (12)

This bottle will be more suitable for ladies as the taste is slightly more towards floral, smooth, easy to drink and less of the punch of sake alcohol taste. This bottle cost about RM 180 if I remember correctly.

Nomi Tomo (13)

Then order some grill to hit on. Ordered Butaniku – Pork Belly just with salt and pepper. @ RM 8. A perfect one as tender, juicy and spot on. Next is the Butaniku – Sirloin @ RM 14,

Nomi Tomo (14)

Excited whens ee they have Hitachino Nest Beer on the tap. Ordered one too. Fresh, smooth and frutti as it should be. Better than the bottle.

Nomi Tomo (15)

Drinking Kaki!

Not a bad place to chill, however if more crowd are coming in, the place will be too noisy as it is cover with only simple decor and mostly hard surface in area. So voice bouncing everywhere.

Power Plant (10)

Charcoal Grilled Pizza – Power PLant Luncheon Meat and Kimchi Pizza @ RM 31.80. – pork luncheon meat, kimchi, green & yellow onions, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and power plants special gochujang marinara sauce.

Power Plant (11)

This was favourite of the night or usually we would not miss this if we are here. Their signature Hot Pot. We tried both before :

  1. Pork Belly & Pork Luncheon @ RM 37
  2. Baby Shrimp & Squid @ RM 44.50

Power Plant (12)

This hotpot is actually one of the best if were to compare the places I have tried. Love the punch of instant spiciness, slightly thick soup base which is so flavourful and refill soup. My personal favourite is the one with luncheon meat.

Power Plant (13)

Galbi Quesadilla @ RM 26.50 – Korean style wrap, gochujang pork, yellow onions, bacon & cheese sandwich in between a warm wheat tortilla.

Power Plant (14)

Since there were many of us this round, we also ordered their Pork Knuckle with an interesting name: PowerPlant Kaki Babi @ RM 65.50. Not really that fantastic but the skin crust is pretty good.

Power Plant (15)

PowerPlant Ribs & Frieds @ RM 67.50 – Korean pork ribs, slathered with sticky & spicy sesame dakgalbi glaze.

Power Plant (17)

Bailey Cheesecake @ RM 26.50 is quite an interesting one. Frozen cheesecake cubes tossed with fruits and almons in a Nutella laced cup served with a shot of Baileys.

Power Plant (18)

Power – Plant @ RM 18.80

Power Plant (19)

Power Plant (21)

Hot pot that I added cheese in it.

Power Plant (22)

Power Plant (24)

PowerPlant Kimchi Bacon Bombs @ RM 27.50 – perfect for bacon lover, kimchi and mozzarella cheese, wrapped with bacon, then breaded and deep fried.

Power Plant (25)

Power Plant (26)

Fun night with the usual great bunch. If you are here, you can consider avoid ordering their mains as the price are slightly on the high side. However, there are a few items is worth for you to order if you are first time visiting this place:

  1. HotPot
  2. Chicken Wings
  3. Pizza

Quite like their choice of sandwich as they prepare everything from fresh including their bread. There are 3 choice to choose from and one of a favourite is their olive bread.

Mango and Smoked Salmon sandwich @ RM13.90 which is kinda a good bargain. Depending on the choice of bread that you are choosing, it is airy and light for the bread and the choices of sauce is kinda intresting to go along such as wasabi mayo and mango ingredient in it. Nevertheless, it turns out to be good.  which was light and refreshing with a hint of wasabi mayo.

They also recently launch their Milky Treatz series as to elevate their choices of juices by providing variety to customers. Tried their Jackfruit Jive @ RM 11.50 (M size only) and turns out to be pretty good. Solid taste of jackfruit and slightly milky to my liking.
